Yokohama, Japan Cruise Port

After Tokyo, Yokohama is the largest city in Japan and one of Japan’s more popular cruise ports. For most of history this was nothing but a small fishing village, but in 1859 it was opened up as a port, and grew by leaps and bounds. Before that time Japan had held a strict seclusion policy starting in the 1600s where no foreigners could enter and no Japanese could leave. Once opened, the city flourished and was even mentioned in Jules Verne’s classic novel Around the World in Eighty Days. Today the city still has Japan’s largest port and a large foreign population, but has become more of a suburb to nearby super city Tokyo. Cruise to Yokohama for an unforgettable, immersive experience.
