Romsdalfjord, Norway Cruise Port

Romsdalfjord is the ninth longest fjord in Norway at 88 meters. Its water source is the Rauma River and its two major ports are in Molde and Åndalsnes. The fjord itself is a popular site for boating and fishing, and the ports have welcomed cruise ships since the 19^th century. They offer relaxing small-town amenities alongside breathtaking views. Åndalsnes lies in the valley of Romsdal at the mouth of the great river and is surrounded on all sides by mountains. As the administrative center of the Rauma Municipality, they print a regional newspaper, have an Association Football club, and are a major stop on the Rauma Railway. Molde, offers stunning views of the fjord, its isles, and over 200 snowy peaks. As the major town in the municipality, they offer guided and unguided hiking, biking, and cave tours. It has also been home to the Romsdal Museum since 1912.

• The Rauma Railway is a must see for any train or travel enthusiast. Built in 1924, this scenic ride passes the salmon-fishing Rauma River, various waterfalls, 32 old-fashioned bridges, and peaks of all sizes.
   
• Become mesmerized by the Rødven Stave Church, one of only 28 staves remaining in Norway. With architecture going back to the 13^th century, it went through a major remodel in the 17^th century, marrying materials and style from both eras.
   
• Visit the open-air Romsdal Museum and bask in the unique buildings of one of the largest folk museums in the country. The museum also has its own folk-dance group which performs for tourists, showcasing their classic dance and costume styles.
   
• Explore the stunning Naas Marble Caves which began as a mining operation in1938. While the tourist portion reveals the effects of mining and natural hydraulic progression, other parts of the caves are being mined to this day.
