Alghero, Italy Cruise Port

Alghero, Italy is found to the west of the Italian mainland, separated from the tip of neighboring Corsica by the narrow Strait of Bonifacio. Alghero is a region divided into four provinces; Cagliari, Nuoro, Oristano and Sassari. The town’s Spanish heritage is reflected in the architecture of many of its buildings, for example, the Church of San Francesco, and the towers remaining from Spanish fortifications. In the Old Town, cobbled streets still have the names in both Italian and Catalan. Alghero’s restaurants are famous for seafood, such as lobster, caught in the nearby waters. Below, we have listed a few of our favorite things to do while cruising to the historic and charming city of Alghero, Italy:

  • Sample the local, freshly caught lobsters from the sparkling blue bay and perfect locally made wine pairing.

  • See the seven defensive towers dominating the walls surrounding Alghero, one of the largest is the Porta Terra, also known as the Jewish Tower.

  • Relax on one of the lovely beaches and take in your surroundings when on your cruise to Alghero, Italy.

  • Explore Grotta di Nettuno, an amazing cavern that can be viewed with a guide and reached by boat tour.
