Versailles, France Cruise Port

Known as the location where the Treaty of Versailles was signed at the end of World War I, Versailles is a French city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a population of around 85,000, this beautifully decorative city is only about ten square miles but makes up for its size with its vibrancy. The city has numerous buildings with impeccable design and stunning architecture, as well as some of the world’s most beautiful statues. In 1972, Versailles was named the seat of France’s thirty nationwide schools of National Education, and it is home to the Academie de Versailles, the largest of such academic institutes. The Palace is a major cultural attraction; it is a historically important manor that once was the primary residence of royalty, including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The interior has been masterfully restored and is one of the most ornate tourist destinations in the area.
