Warsaw, Poland Cruise Port

On the sparkling Vistula River is the cruise port and capital city of Warsaw, Poland. Located in the east-central part of the country, Warsaw has incorporated a long past into a modern-day cultural hub for locals and travelers alike. It's also considered one of Central Europe's most livable cities, rising from the destruction created by World War II to become a bustling metropolis – one with a vibrant nightlife and music scene, as well as unique shopping and dining opportunities (and old-time milk bars, for the nostalgic). Along with history and the widely varied architecture – ranging from Gothic to neoclassical to Soviet-era styles – there is plenty of greenspace in Warsaw, with no fewer than 82 parks within the city. It’s also the home to some of Poland’s best universities and institutions of higher learning, along with numerous libraries. Here are a handful of our favorite experiences when cruising to Warsaw, Poland:

  • Beautiful Lazienki Park includes a Chopin Monument, and if you're lucky, you'll catch one of the open-air concerts held during the summer months. It's a huge area in which to enjoy nature, interact with a red squirrel or two, or stroll along the ponds.

  • The UNESCO World Heritage Old Town is contained within the borders of the city center, and showcases Poland's rich past. Meticulously rebuilt after WWII, walking through the streets is the best way to absorb everything; even better, take a guided tour and get an insider's look. Seeing all of Old Town can take quite a lot of time, so plan accordingly.

  • At the entrance to Old Town, you'll find Castle Square and the Royal Castle, used formerly as the official residence of Polish monarchs. It was rebuilt after WWII damage, but is as breathtaking as ever. The Square itself is a riot of colorful buildings and a great place to do some shopping after exploring the castle.

  • The fascinating Warsaw Uprising Museum is for those interested in area, and the country's struggle for independence. There are 60 rooms here that showcase a collection of artefacts from beginning of Warsaw’s existence through modern times..
