• Along the slopes of the picturesque summer castle of King Frederick the Great is everything that stood for royalty and power during his reign. • There’s so much history in the palace of Schloss Cecilienhof, the historic memorial originally built for Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany and Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin between 1914 to 1917. Famously known for the terms of negotiation that took place among Winston Churchill, Harry S. Truman and Joseph Stalin; the three heads of government who participated in the Potsdam Conference in 1945 to end WWII, this extraordinary castle is a must-see for all history buffs!
   
• Visit the Brandenburg Gate (same name as the one in Berlin) for a taste of Old Potsdam. Built in 1770, the gate located on the Luisenplatz, was designed along with city walls to prevent smuggling and desertion. The city walls were demolished in 1900 and since then the Brandenburg Gate is a free-standing Roman style influenced structure.
