Overview
Viking Astrild was specifically designed to navigate the Elbe River, upon which she’ll carry fewer than 98 guests per voyage. Keeping with Viking River Cruises’ elegant style, the Viking Astrild will feature state-of-the-art design elements like the Aquavit Terrace, Sun Deck, and classrooms for hosting Viking’s famed Culture Curriculum courses.
Viking Astrild even features several “green” initiatives, including an organic herb garden, hybrid engines, and solar panels. She also includes standard, balcony, and full veranda staterooms, the latter of which is best for enjoying your scenic views of the Elbe River and surrounding countryside.

Need more detailed information on excursions. For example, we signed up for a dinner at a restaurant that was over an hour away by bus. Had we known this, we would have skipped it. Princess cruises, on the other hand, lets you know how long you will be walking, how many steps you will be taking, length of time spent on the bus and at each location visited.
Pros: As always, the service was outstanding. The ship is well maintained and the food was very good.
Cons: Excursion choices are good, but need to be better detailed.

The entire package was great: excellent crew, everything went well and there were no problems or inconveniences whatsoever. We had some issues with airline delays on the way back but those have nothing to do with the Viking Astrild. In particular I would like to mention Michael, the tour organizer that was always present and helpful whenever we needed him.
Pros: Everything: Starting with the organization and then the accommodations on the ship and on land, the excursions as well as the food and the pleasant and attentive crew.
Cons: None!

This was the only river I had not been on in Europe. It was far different than the Main, Danube, etc., very peaceful, bucolic, and peaceful. Overall rating - excellent!
