Jayapura is the vibrant capital of Papua Province, Indonesia, strategically located on the northern coast of the island of New Guinea. Tip: Local transport (angkot or taxi) can take you there. It's a great spot to cool off and enjoy the tropical atmosphere.
For panoramic views of Jayapura city, Yos Sudarso Bay, and the surrounding verdant hills, make your way to Skyline Hill, also known as Bukit Jokowi. This viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas, especially during sunrise or sunset, and is a popular spot for photography.
Tip: A taxi or rented vehicle is recommended to reach the top. There are small cafes at the viewpoint where you can enjoy refreshments.
Immerse yourself in the rich cultural and natural heritage of Papua at the Papua Museum. It houses a diverse collection of artifacts, including traditional tools, tribal art, musical instruments, and exhibits on the region's ethnology, history, and unique flora and fauna.

Jayapura and its surroundings played a significant role in World War II, serving as General Douglas MacArthur's headquarters for a period.
