When a cruise line invests this much in its fleet, it's worth paying attention. Rather than chasing new builds, Holland America is reinvesting in its fleet that guests already know and love. The Holland America Evolution program is the clearest example: six ships across the Signature and Vista classes are being reimagined with elevated suites and thoughtful touches inspired by the success of the Pinnacle Class.

It's a clear signal of how seriously Holland America is investing in its future. And the ships that aren't part of the program haven't been left out either, with refreshes and reimagined spaces of their own rolling out across the fleet.

Holland America Evolution: The Fleet's Next Chapter

Holland America Evolution is one of the most ambitious fleet updates in Holland America's history. Backed by an investment of more than $500 million and built in partnership with longtime shipbuilding partner Fincantieri, the program is elevating six ships across the Signature and Vista classes with modernized suites, new dining and entertainment venues, and design touches inspired by the line's Pinnacle Class.

Oosterdam Leads the Way

Oosterdam is stepping into the spotlight as the very first ship to complete her Evolution transformation, with the big debut set for October 2027.

What's New to Oosterdam

• 30 purpose-built Solo Verandahs give solo travelers a private balcony & dedicated workspace, located on decks 8 & 11.
• Bridgeview Suites open up 180-degree views through panoramic windows, 900 square feet of space & a wraparound balcony, emulating the vantage point seen from the ship's bridge.
• 24 spacious, light-filled Vista Suites bring a longtime Pinnacle Class favorite to Oosterdam for the first time.
• Grand Dutch Café brings a beloved Pinnacle Class gathering spot to Deck 3, previously found only on Holland America's largest ships.
• A Lido Pool bandstand creates a dedicated stage for live music & events, right in the heart of the ship's most popular gathering spot.
• An Ocean Bar brings Art Deco glamour & live nightly entertainment to a stage perched above the atrium.

What's Getting a Refresh

• The Pinnacle Suite has been reimagined at 1,550 square feet, one of the most expansive suites introduced on a Vista Class ship to date.
• Neptune Suites, Signature Suites, Ocean View & Interior staterooms all get refreshed accommodations throughout
• 76 staterooms have been added across the ship, giving more guests more ways to sail aboard Oosterdam.

Zuiderdam Follows in 2028

Next up is Zuiderdam, the second ship to join the Evolution lineup, with her transformation set to debut in March 2028.

What's New to Zuiderdam

• Bridgeview Suites bring the same sweeping, forward-facing views to Zuiderdam, with two suites located above the bridge.
• Solo Verandahs give up to 32 solo travelers their own private balcony & workspace.
• Vista Suites come to Zuiderdam for the first time, with 14 spacious, light-filled staterooms.
• Grand Dutch Café makes its largest debut yet, with more room to gather over coffee, pastries & light bites.
• A Lido Pool bandstand brings live music & events to one of the ship's most popular gathering spots.

What's Getting a Refresh

Alongside all that's new, just a few longtime favorites are getting a refresh of their own:

• The Pinnacle Suite, reimagined to offer an elevated residential-style experience at sea.

Fleet-Wide Dry Docks

Zuiderdam and Westerdam each completed their own dry docks in late 2025 and early 2026, both adding a new bandstand stage to the Crow's Nest and 11 new Ocean View staterooms, along with fresh carpeting and finishes throughout. Westerdam also debuted a reimagined Effy Lounge with private consultation nooks, and Zuiderdam introduced a redesigned Photo Gallery sales counter, ahead of both ships' upcoming Evolution transformations.

Koningsdam and Rotterdam followed with dry docks of their own, sharing several of the same touches: a central lounge area connecting Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge, new sofa beds across 22 Vista Suites and matching Effy jewelry retail concepts.

Koningsdam's Bahamas Dry Dock

Koningsdam returned to service in March 2026 following a two-week Bahamas dry dock, just ahead of her Alaska season.

What's New to Koningsdam

• Five new, larger Ocean View staterooms welcome families and friends traveling together, each sleeping up to four guests, with four connecting for larger groups.

What's Getting a Refresh

There's more than new staterooms here. A handful of Koningsdam's existing spaces got some attention as well:

• The casino expands with additional gaming space, giving guests even more room to play.
• Fixed tables at Pinnacle Grill, Sel de Mer & Club Orange convert to movable arrangements, opening up more flexible seating.
• Fitness equipment gets a modern upgrade, alongside fresh carpeting throughout.

Rotterdam's Netherlands Dry Dock

Holland America's flagship Rotterdam returned to service in April 2026 following a two-week dry dock in the Netherlands, ahead of her summer Northern Europe season.

What's New to Rotterdam

• A live music stage in the Crow's Nest sets the scene for evening performances & panoramic views.
• A second live music stage & bandstand join the lineup at the Sea View Pool on Deck 9 aft.

What's Getting a Refresh

Beyond the new stages, Rotterdam picked up some updates to her existing spaces, too:
