Overview
Located on Florida’s Space Coast, Port Canaveral is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world—and for good reason. it is just minutes from the Atlantic beaches of Cocoa Beach, where you can soak up the sun, watch surfers ride the waves, or visit the iconic Ron Jon Surf Shop. The port itself is modern and traveler-friendly, with dining, shopping, and waterfront views right outside the terminal.
What really sets this area apart is its connection to space exploration. The nearby Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offers an inspiring look at NASA’s past, present, and future—complete with real rockets, astronaut encounters, and launch viewing opportunities if you time it right. It’s an experience that blends fun with awe-inspiring science.
Whether you are headed off on a Caribbean cruise or sticking around to explore Central Florida, Port Canaveral makes a great start. With Orlando's theme parks just over an hour away, plus nature trails, wildlife tours, and fresh seafood galore, there’s plenty to enjoy before or after your voyage.
Cruise Terminal 1: 9050 Discovery Rd, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
Cruise Terminal 3: 220 Christopher Columbus Dr, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920
Cruise Terminal 5: 9245 Charles Rowland Dr, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

Start your day with a visit to the Kennedy Space Center, one of the most iconic attractions in the area. Explore the history of space exploration, see real spacecraft, and even meet an astronaut. Highlights include the Space Shuttle Atlantis, the Apollo/Saturn V Center, and the Rocket Garden.
Tip: Arrive early to make the most of your visit and consider booking a guided tour for an in-depth experience.

Spend some time at Jetty Park, a beautiful beach with plenty of amenities. Enjoy the sun, swim in the ocean, or have a picnic. The park also offers fishing opportunities, a playground for kids, and a 1,200-foot fishing pier.
Tip: Bring sunscreen, beach gear, and some snacks to fully enjoy your time here.

Head to Exploration Tower for stunning views of Port Canaveral and the surrounding area. This seven-story tower offers interactive exhibits, a café, and an observation deck. Learn about the port's history, the local environment, and space exploration.
Tip: Visit the observation deck for the best views and photo opportunities.

Just a short drive from Port Canaveral, Cocoa Beach is a must-visit. Known for its beautiful sandy shores and excellent surfing conditions, it is a great place to relax or catch some waves. The Cocoa Beach Pier offers dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
Tip: Rent a surfboard or take a surfing lesson if you are feeling adventurous.

The Cove at Port Canaveral is a lively area with restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Enjoy a meal with a view of the harbor, watch the cruise ships come and go, or simply stroll around and soak in the atmosphere.
Tip: Try some fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants, such as Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill or Rusty's Seafood and Oyster Bar.

This small, tranquil park offers a boardwalk and observation deck where you can often spot manatees grazing in the warm river waters, especially during the cooler months.
Tip: Visit during slack tides or when the weather is slightly cooler (Nov-March) for the best chance of viewing these gentle giants.

Nature lovers will enjoy a visit to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. This protected area is home to a variety of wildlife, including alligators, manatees, and numerous bird species. Take a scenic drive, hike the trails, or go kayaking.
Tip: Bring binoculars and a camera for wildlife spotting and photography.

Take a guided tour to the historic Canaveral Lighthouse (must be booked well in advance). It is one of the oldest operating navigational beacons on the coast.
Tip: Due to security concerns (it’s on Air Force property), tours are highly regulated and must be booked weeks, sometimes months, ahead of time. Check availability early!
