Overview
Bustling and bold, Osaka offers a slightly more relaxed and down-to-earth vibe compared to Tokyo, but it still delivers plenty of big-city excitement. Neighborhoods like Dotonbori light up with neon signs and endless food stalls, while Umeda and Namba buzz with shopping, nightlife, and urban style. The city is also home to Osaka Castle—a beautifully restored historic site surrounded by scenic gardens.
Osaka is famously food-obsessed, earning its nickname “Japan’s kitchen.” Local specialties like takoyaki (octopus balls), okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), and kushikatsu (fried skewers) are must-tries, best enjoyed at casual eateries or market stalls. Kuromon Ichiba Market is a great place to dive into the local flavor, offering everything from fresh seafood to sweet treats.
Beyond the food and lights, Osaka has a warm, welcoming spirit. The people are known for their humor and hospitality, and the city’s blend of tradition and modern fun makes it feel accessible and exciting all at once. Whether you are exploring temples, catching a comedy show, or just getting lost in the street food scene, Osaka invites you to enjoy it all with a full heart—and a full stomach.

Start your day with a visit to Osaka Castle, one of Japan's most famous landmarks. The castle, originally built in the 16th century, is surrounded by beautiful gardens and moats. The castle museum offers fascinating exhibits on the history of Osaka and the castle itself. Don't miss the panoramic views from the top floor.
Tip: Allocate at least an hour to explore the castle and its grounds. The best time to visit is in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Next, head to Dotonbori, Osaka's most famous entertainment district. This lively area is known for its neon lights, giant billboards, and bustling atmosphere. Take a stroll along the Dotonbori Canal and enjoy the vibrant street life. Be sure to try some local street food, such as takoyaki (octopus balls) and okonomiyaki (savory pancakes).
Tip: Visit in the late afternoon or evening to experience the district at its liveliest. The Glico Running Man sign is a must-see photo spot.

Spend some time at Shitennoji Temple, one of Japan's oldest temples, founded in 593 AD. The temple complex includes a beautiful five-story pagoda, a main hall, and a tranquil garden. The temple is a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Tip: Allocate at least an hour to explore the temple grounds. The temple is free to enter, but there is a small fee to enter the inner precinct and garden.

Head to the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, one of the largest and most impressive aquariums in the world. The aquarium features a wide variety of marine life, including whale sharks, manta rays, and penguins. The exhibits are designed to take you on a journey through the Pacific Ocean.
Tip: Allocate at least two hours to explore the aquarium. The best time to visit is in the morning to avoid the crowds.

For a unique perspective of the city, take a ride on the Hep Five Ferris Wheel, located on the roof of the Hep Five shopping mall. The Ferris wheel offers stunning views of Osaka's skyline and the surrounding area. Each cabin is equipped with air conditioning and heating for a comfortable ride.
Tip: Visit in the evening for a romantic ride with beautiful city lights. The Ferris wheel is open until late, making it a perfect end to your day.

No visit to Osaka is complete without indulging in the local cuisine. Head to Kuromon Ichiba Market, a bustling market known for its fresh seafood, fruits, and street food. Sample a variety of dishes, such as sushi, grilled seafood, and Japanese sweets.
Tip: Arrive hungry and try a little bit of everything. The market is a great place to pick up some unique souvenirs to take back to the ship.

End your day with a relaxing visit to Osaka Castle Park, a large public park surrounding Osaka Castle. The park features beautiful gardens, walking paths, and scenic spots for picnics. it is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Osaka.
Tip: Bring a blanket and have a picnic in the park. The park is especially beautiful during cherry blossom season in the spring.
