Brooklyn, NY Cruise Port

Since 2006, Brooklyn, New York has been home to a revitalized, state-of-the-art cruise terminal. The docking area is quite large with over 200,000 square feet of flexible space. It also includes ample parking for personal vehicles with extra room for larger vessels like buses. The port exits right into the Red Hook district which is one of the borough’s hottest and trendiest spots. A large selection of artisan stores and unique restaurants are there to welcome visitors into the artistic community. Like much of Brooklyn, this port is something old that has been converted to something modern. In the 1950s it was an industrial freight terminal and before that, it was a primary site for the Atlantic Basin Iron Works. Today, the bustling port welcomes 50 or more cruise ships every year and over a quarter of a million passengers. Once you’ve left port, transportation for anywhere in the city you wish to go is readily available.

• Along the marvelous Brooklyn waterfront, travelers may come across the wide-spanning Brooklyn Flea Market. Food vendors, antique dealers, and the odd bit of bric-a-brac are out in abundance at this outdoor fair.
   
• Venture to the Brooklyn Museum and explore one of the largest art institutions in the world. With a vast selection of art styles this stop is bound to suit most viewers’ fancies.
   
• Old Smith Street offers a stunning array of restaurants and food vendors peddling a variety of local and international cuisines.
   
• The glorious Green-Wood Cemetery has a number of luxurious walking paths and plenty of interesting plants and beautiful memorials. The entire area can take hours to walk with so many sights to take in.
