The Solo Studio aboard the Norwegian Aura. Modern comfort with no single supplements.

Norwegian Cruise Line is a good fit for solo travelers because the stateroom choices are priced for one person, not two. You can book a private balcony, an ocean view, an inside stateroom or a Solo Studio, with no single supplement and no double occupancy rate to work around. Some ships also have a lounge reserved for Solo Studio guests, so you can keep to yourself or meet new people, whichever suits the day.
Here's what to know before you pick your stateroom.
Solo Traveling With NCL at a Glance
Stateroom type | Availability | Suits travelers who want |
|---|---|---|
Solo Balcony | Fleetwide | A private balcony & extra personal space |
Solo Oceanview | Fleetwide | Sea views without a balcony |
Solo Inside | Fleetwide | A comfortable base for dining, shows & shore excursions |
Solo Studio | Select ships | A compact stateroom & Studio Lounge access on ships that have one |
How Solo Staterooms Are Priced
Norwegian Cruise Line prices Solo Staterooms for one traveler, so no single supplement applies and you pay one per person fare. That's true across all four categories: Solo Balcony, Solo Oceanview, Solo Inside and Solo Studio.
What that fare looks like depends on:
- The ship
- The itinerary
- The length of the sailing
- Demand on your dates
Don't forget to compare prices. Occasionally, a standard stateroom booked for one can cost less than a Solo option on the same sailing, and our Cruise Experts can help you find the best price.
Choosing Your Solo Stateroom
You can choose from four Solo Stateroom types on Norwegian Cruise Line: Balcony, Oceanview, Inside or Studio. Since each is priced for one, the decision comes down to what you want from your stateroom.
Solo Balcony

Relax in contemporary style with breathtaking views right from your private balcony.
If you're sailing with a big family or a group of friends and still want a little space to yourself, a Solo Balcony Stateroom is a natural fit. It comes with a private balcony and is available fleetwide. It also works well for solo cruisers who like the idea of stepping outside to stargaze whenever they please.
Solo Oceanview

Oceanview staterooms also offer scenic views throughout your journey.
Want to watch the ocean from your stateroom without booking a balcony? Solo Oceanview gives you the view all to yourself. It's available fleetwide, so you'll find it across the lineup.
Solo Inside

If your days are full of dining, shows and shore excursions, a Solo Inside Stateroom gives you a comfortable, stylish place to come back to at the end of them. It's priced for one and available fleetwide.
Solo Studio

Your own space, sized for one: a Solo Studio on Norwegian Prima.
A Solo Studio is a compact stateroom sized for one traveler, available on select ships including Norwegian Prima, Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. It's designed for active travelers who want to enjoy the ship's amenities and fill their days with shore excursions. Solo Studio guests can also use the Studio Lounge, a space reserved for solo travelers, on ships that have one.

Unlike layouts with a stateroom sink, the Solo Studio bathroom on Norwegian Prima keeps the sink inside the bathroom.
Pro tip: Because Studio availability differs by ship, our Cruise Experts can tell you exactly which ships have Solo Studios and which also have the Studio Lounge for the sailing you're considering.
Access to the Studio Lounge
The Solo Studio comes with access to the Studio Lounge, and a few details change from ship to ship.
The Studio Lounge
The Studio Lounge is a private space for Solo Studio guests. You get in with a keycard, and complimentary coffee, espresso and snacks are available throughout the day. It's a spot to unwind on your own or chat with other solo travelers, depending on your mood.

Meeting Other Solo Travelers
The Studio Lounge isn't the only way to meet people. Norwegian Cruise Line offers meet-ups for solo cruisers, and the Freestyle Daily, the ship's daily guide, lists what's happening onboard so you can join in when something appeals. Shore excursions, group fitness classes and the ship's bars and lounges are easy places to strike up a conversation too. Offerings vary by ship and sailing, so you can join in as much or as little as you like.
How Solo Studios Differ by Ship
Solo Studios aren't identical across the fleet, so it's worth checking with our personal cruise consultants before you book. Here's what varies:
- Solo Studios are offered on select ships rather than fleetwide.
- Ships with Solo Studios typically have the Studio Lounge too, including Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Encore and Norwegian Luna. The exception is Pride of America: she has Solo Studios but no Studio Lounge.
- The sink sits in the stateroom itself on some ships, while Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Aqua have a standard bathroom in the Studio.

How to Choose the Right Solo Stateroom
The right Solo Stateroom depends on how much space you want, how social you'd like to be and which ship you're sailing.
- If you want a private outdoor space, look at a Solo Balcony. It works just as well when you're traveling with family or friends and want your own space.
- If you'd like sea views without a balcony, a Solo Oceanview fits.
- If you'll spend most of your days out exploring, a Solo Inside gives you a comfortable place to come back to.
- If you want a stateroom made for one plus a lounge for solo travelers, a Solo Studio fits on the ships that offer it.
Ship choice matters as much as stateroom type. Studio availability, the Studio Lounge and bathroom layout all vary by ship, so we recommend checking with our Cruise Experts, who will help you filter through the many options.
