Manager's Insight
Singles Cruising!
Since our President's Message has shifted to Manager's Insight, I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Heather Wasson and I am a Sales Manager. I am behind the scenes to keep The Cruise Web running at full speed. I juggle a lot of responsibilities from recruiting, training, managing mindsets, and increasing productivity. I also happen to be single (see my profile below), making me perfectly qualified to kick things off for our "Singles Cruising" newsletter.
This month's theme is about solo travelers. Sometimes singles travel has a negative connotation: single supplement, couples only, or out of place. However, there's another side! Freedom - you don't have to do what someone else wants to do. You only have to worry about satisfying your own needs; there's no need for compromise. Imagine a queen size bed all to yourself. What about a cabin that you can make as messy as you can handle??
The cruise lines are making more of an effort to address the solo traveler. Some cabins are based on single occupancy and have a common area to encourage interaction. Some have social gatherings throughout the cruise. Often times at dinner, they'll attempt to pair you with "like" travelers. Some provide gentlemen hosts to sweep you off your feet, as you dance the night away. Continue reading for other tips for any solo traveler.
And trust me, cruising is not just for the honeymooners and the anniversary celebrators. You'll see plenty of singles mixed in with their family reunions, within bachelor / bachelorette groups and amongst organizations traveling together, so keep on the lookout and you never know, maybe you'll find that lucky someone on a cruise. I'm still on the lookout!

Heather Wasson
Sales Manager
When The Cruise Web staff decided to devote an edition of The Current to "Singles Cruising," one member of our team was just a little more excited than anyone else. As someone who has recently thrown herself into the dating world, Sales Manager
Heather Wasson was the obvious choice for a spotlight. So in the spirit of the single life, we present the first ever Cruise Web Current "Personal" Ad! Let's learn a little bit about Heather...
Favorite Itinerary: Southern Caribbean
Favorite Country: New Zealand
Favorite Hobbies: "I've been learning more about football... I guess I'm a Redskins fan?" I also like long walks on the beach (really!) and hiking.
Number of Cruises: 16
Ideal Date: Anything I don't plan!
Heather's Type: Rich, tall, dark and handsome soccer players. Why soccer players? They have the ideal body type.
Best Part About Dating: Free food
Worst Part About Dating: The awkwardness of a bad date while trying to finish your meals as quickly as possible!
Heather found her way to The Cruise Web after graduating from St. Mary's College in Maryland with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, she sharpened her management skills by running her own business. After growing tired of the long hours and extensive travel, Heather went on her computer and typed "travel" and "fun" into CareerBuilder and voila - welcome to The Cruise Web! Heather remembers, "I wanted a 'travel' job, but not one where I had to travel." And the rest is Cruise Web history. Heather was promoted many times as a Cruise Consultant and now has the responsibility of ensuring that each Cruise Web consultant has the skills necessary to be successful and make sure their clients are getting the maximum value for their cruise vacation.
Although she's built so many relationships with her clients during her time as a Cruise Consultant, she's still looking for that ultimate relationship outside of the office. And as you'll read in the blog in this edition of The Current, she knows that cruising can be an excellent way to travel as a single!

Cruising Solo
By Jen Crivelli, Senior Cruise Consultant
What happens when you can't find a friend or family member to share a stateroom with you on your cruise vacation? Consider taking the cruise by yourself.
This past December, I was in this exact situation. I held a reservation on a 12-night Caribbean cruise on Azamara Club Cruises' Azamara Journey and found myself without anyone to travel with me. I needed a vacation, so instead of canceling my trip, I decided to go on the cruise by myself. Having never cruised alone before, I had some concerns that I know many cruisers have when it comes to sailing by yourself...
