Tip: This is often the first stop on many tours. Have your camera ready, as it is one of the most famous and beautiful views in the world.
As you drive into the valley, you will be dwarfed by the massive granite monolith of El Capitan, a favorite for rock climbers. You'll also see the elegant Bridalveil Fall, which cascades down a sheer cliff face.
Tip: The trail to the base of Bridalveil Fall is a short, paved walk that allows you to feel the spray from the water (weather permitting).
Enjoy a leisurely hike or stroll through the floor of Yosemite Valley. The valley is a flat, easily navigable area with numerous trails that wind through meadows and alongside the Merced River, offering spectacular views of the surrounding cliffs.
Tip: Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at one of the many scenic spots along the river.
Some excursions may include a visit to one of Yosemite's three groves of giant sequoia trees. Standing among these magnificent, ancient giants is a humbling and unforgettable experience, as they are the largest living things on earth.
Tip: The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, located near the South Entrance of the park, is the largest and most famous grove.
See the iconic Yosemite Falls, North America's tallest waterfall. While it may not be in full flow in the drier months of late summer and fall, its scale is still impressive, and the walking path at its base offers fantastic views.
Tip: To see the falls at their most powerful, plan your visit for the spring or early summer when melting snow feeds the cascade.
Make a stop at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center to get a better understanding of the park's geology, history, and wildlife. The center offers exhibits, ranger-led programs, and a bookstore where you can find detailed maps and guides.
