If time permits, visit the nearby Old Scatness Broch & Iron Age Village, another significant archaeological discovery. This site features a well-preserved Iron Age broch (a distinctive drystone tower) and an associated village.
Tip: Check opening times, as Old Scatness may have more limited access than Jarlshof. It offers a fascinating complement to Jarlshof.
Take a leisurely walk along the cliff paths around Sumburgh Head (staying on marked trails and away from cliff edges). These paths offer stunning views of the rugged coastline, the churning sea below, and the vast expanse of the North Sea.
