Located at the western end of the Sanssouci Park, the New Palace is a grand Baroque palace built by Frederick the Great to celebrate the end of the Seven Years' War. With over 200 rooms and a magnificent grotto hall, it showcases a different, more opulent side of Prussian royalty.
Tip: If time permits, a visit to the New Palace offers a stunning contrast to the more intimate Sanssouci Palace.
While Berlin has its famous Brandenburg Gate, Potsdam has its own, older version. The Brandenburg Gate of Potsdam (Brandenburger Tor), located at the end of the pedestrian shopping street, was built in 1770 and serves as a magnificent entry point to the Old Town.
