Tip: The channel can be windy and chilly, even on a sunny day. Bring a warm, waterproof jacket to stay comfortable on deck.
From Puerto Madryn, take a trip to the Valdés Peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a prime location for wildlife viewing. The bay is a breeding ground for Southern Right Whales, and from June to December, you can take a boat tour to see these magnificent creatures up close.

Also accessible from Puerto Madryn, a visit to the Punta Tombo Penguin Colony is a must-do. This is one of the largest continental colonies of Magellanic penguins, where you can walk along marked trails and observe thousands of penguins waddling to and from the sea.

Puerto Madryn and the Chubut Valley are home to a strong Welsh heritage. Take a tour to the nearby Welsh settlements, like Gaiman, to see the historic chapels and tea houses that preserve the culture of the Welsh immigrants who settled here in the 19th century.
