For those interested in the history and culture of the region, the Museum of Slavonia is a must-visit. Located in the Tvrđa fortress, it is one of Croatia's oldest museums and houses extensive collections on archaeology, ethnography, and local history.
Tip: The museum is housed in a grand Baroque building that is an attraction in itself.
Osijek is known for its green spaces, and Sakuntala Park is a perfect example. Located near the main square, it is a small but beautiful park with statues and tranquil pathways, offering a peaceful respite from the city's bustle.
Tip: The park's namesake, Sakuntala, is a figure from Indian mythology, and a statue of her can be found in the park.
The Slavonia region is famous for its hearty and delicious food. Be sure to try local specialties such as kulen (a paprika-spiced sausage), fiš-paprikaš (a spicy river fish stew), and some of the excellent local wines produced in the surrounding vineyards.
