Overview
Uno Port, located in the city of Tamano, serves as the primary cruise port for the Okayama Prefecture in Japan. Uno Port is the perfect departure point for a ferry trip to the famous Setouchi Art Islands, including Naoshima and Teshima. These islands have been transformed into contemporary art hubs, featuring unique art installations, museums designed by renowned architects, and a seamless blend of art and nature.
*Tip: Naoshima is the most famous of the islands and can be explored by renting an electric bike near the ferry terminal.
Indulge in the local cuisine, which is known for fresh seafood and an abundance of fruit. Look for fresh oysters from the Seto Inland Sea or try local specialties like Okayama-style okonomiyaki. The region is also famous for its sweet, juicy peaches and Muscat grapes.
*Tip: You can often find local specialty items and fresh produce for sale at or near Uno Port.
Even if you don't take a ferry to the islands, you can enjoy the art right at the port. Uno Port is currently home to several public art installations, many of which were created for the Setouchi Triennale art festival. Look for the famous "Black Seabream" sculpture made from recycled materials.

Take a stroll around Tamano City itself. The city offers a relaxed, seaside atmosphere with local restaurants, shops, and a bike rental shop if you want to explore further on two wheels. The town provides a quiet contrast to the more bustling tourist centers.
*Tip: Tamano is known for its hot springs. A visit to a public bathhouse is a perfect way to relax and rejuvenate after a long day of sightseeing.
