Tip: Wear comfortable walking shoes for exploring the fort's grounds and a hat for sun protection, as there is little shade.
Spend a day at Ponta Negra Beach, Natal's most famous and vibrant beach. The lively promenade is lined with restaurants, bars, and shops, all set against the backdrop of the iconic Morro do Careca, a massive, lush sand dune that is the symbol of the city.
Tip: Find a beachfront "barraca" (tent) to rent a chair and umbrella, and enjoy fresh seafood and cold drinks delivered right to your seat.
Take an excursion to the Pirangi Cashew Tree (Cajueiro de Pirangi), located just south of the city. This Guinness World Record holder has a circumference of over 500 meters, covering an area equivalent to about 70 regular cashew trees, creating its own small forest.
Tip: There's an observation deck you can climb for an incredible view of the tree's sprawling canopy. The nearby market sells various cashew-based products.
Often referred to as the "Brazilian Caribbean," Parrachos de Maracajaú is a series of shallow coral reefs located a short boat ride from the shore. This is a perfect spot for snorkeling or diving, where you can see a vibrant array of tropical fish and marine life in the clear, calm waters.
Tip: This is a full-day excursion that is highly dependent on tide times. Be sure to book this tour in advance and confirm the schedule.
Take a scenic walk or ride along the Via Costeira (Coastal Highway), a 10-kilometer beachfront road that connects the city's main beaches and hotel zone. It's an excellent way to see the coastline, the sand dunes, and the Atlantic Ocean.
