Tip: Wear comfortable shoes, as the streets are made of polished stone that can be slippery. The historic center is a pedestrian-only area.
The Basilica di San Martino is the architectural highlight of Martina Franca. Its highly decorated façade is a masterpiece of the Baroque style, while the interior is a mix of Baroque grandeur and Neoclassical elegance. The basilica is a central landmark and a testament to the town's artistic heritage.
Tip: Look for the statue of Saint Martin on the façade, which depicts him sharing his cloak with a beggar, a local symbol of charity and generosity.

Martina Franca is located in the heart of the Itria Valley, which is famous for its unique conical-roofed homes called trulli. While the most famous trulli are in nearby Alberobello, you can see them dotting the countryside on your drive to and from Martina Franca.
Tip: Many tours from the cruise port will combine a visit to Martina Franca with a stop in Alberobello to see the trulli up close.
The Apulia region is known for its incredible food and wine. Take a break in one of Martina Franca's many restaurants to sample local specialties like capocollo di Martina Franca (cured ham), orecchiette pasta with turnip tops, and the region's excellent white and red wines.
