Take a longtail boat from Ao Nang to Railay Beach, a stunning peninsula cut off from the mainland by towering limestone cliffs, accessible only by boat. Spend your time relaxing on its beautiful beaches (Railay West, Railay East, Phra Nang Cave Beach), swimming, or marveling at the dramatic rock formations.
Tip: Phra Nang Cave Beach is often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It also has a unique "penis shrine" for fertility.
Embark on an island hopping tour to explore the magnificent islands surrounding Krabi. Popular options include the "Four Islands Tour" (visiting Phra Nang Cave Beach, Chicken Island, Tup Island, and Poda Island for snorkeling and relaxation) or a Hong Island tour (known for its stunning lagoon and pristine beaches).
Tip: Tours are easily booked from Ao Nang. Consider a longtail boat tour for a more authentic and flexible experience, or a speedboat for quicker travel. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a waterproof bag.
Challenge yourself with the ascent to the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea) viewpoint. It involves climbing 1,237 steep steps to reach the summit, where a giant golden Buddha statue and incredible 360-degree panoramic views of Krabi's limestone karsts, jungles, and coastline await.
Tip: Go early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds. Wear appropriate clothing for a temple (shoulders and knees covered) and comfortable shoes for the climb. Watch out for the monkeys!
Experience the unique ecosystem of Krabi by sea kayaking through its lush mangrove forests and hidden lagoons. Ao Thalane is famous for its intricate channels and towering karsts, while Bor Thor offers ancient caves with prehistoric paintings.
Tip: Guided kayaking tours are available and highly recommended, as they provide equipment and local knowledge. It's a fantastic way to get up close with nature.
Take a trip inland to the natural wonders of the Emerald Pool (Sa Morakot), a crystal-clear, warm water pool in the middle of a rainforest, perfect for swimming. Nearby are the Krabi Hot Springs, where natural thermal waters flow into rock formations, creating soothing natural baths.
Tip: Combine both attractions in one trip, as they are relatively close. Go early to avoid crowds at the Emerald Pool.
Conclude your day with a relaxing sunset dinner at Ao Nang Beach. Choose from a wide array of beachfront restaurants and enjoy delicious Thai cuisine as the sun dips below the horizon, casting vibrant colors over the Andaman Sea and the distant islands.
