Tip: Climbing the bell tower offers some of the best views of the town and the archipelago. A small fee usually applies.
Explore the house that is traditionally believed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous Venetian merchant and explorer. While historical evidence is debated, the small museum inside offers an interesting insight into his life and travels, along with a tower providing views.
Tip: It's a small attraction, but a fun part of Korčula's identity. Don't expect a grand museum, but enjoy the historical connection.
If visiting during the summer months (typically twice a week), try to catch a performance of the Moreška sword dance. This traditional, dramatic chivalrous dance, originating from the 17th century, is unique to Korčula and tells a story of conflict between two kings.
Tip: Check local schedules for performance dates and times as they are not daily. Book tickets in advance as it's a popular cultural event.
Cool off and relax at one of the many beautiful beaches or secluded coves around Korčula. Options include Banje Beach (close to Old Town), or take a taxi boat to nearby islets like Badija or Vrnik for crystal-clear waters and tranquil swimming spots.
Tip: Most beaches are pebble or rock, so water shoes are recommended. The water is incredibly clear and inviting.
Korčula is famous for its excellent local white wines. Visit a local winery (vinarija) or a wine bar to taste Grk (a unique varietal from Lumbarda) and Pošip (another distinguished white wine). These are best enjoyed with fresh local seafood.
Tip: Take a short bus ride or taxi to Lumbarda (a village near Korčula Town) to visit vineyards directly. Many restaurants in Korčula Town also offer a good selection of local wines.
