Step into history at the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth, located in Jew Town. Marvel at its exquisite Belgian chandeliers, hand-painted Chinese tiles, and ancient scrolls. Explore the surrounding Jew Town for antique shops and spice markets.

Immerse yourself in Kerala's vibrant performing arts by attending a Kathakali performance. This classical Indian dance-drama is renowned for its elaborate costumes, intricate make-up, expressive facial gestures, and ancient storytelling. Many cultural centers in Fort Kochi offer evening shows.
Tip: Arrive an hour or so before the show to watch the elaborate make-up application process, which is an art form in itself.
While the main Kerala backwaters are further south, you can experience a taste of them with a short backwater cruise from Kochi. These cruises often explore the tranquil canals and lagoons just outside the main city, offering glimpses of local village life along the waterways.
