Overview
Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo are two distinct yet complementary resort towns situated on Mexico's Pacific coast in the state of Guerrero. Often referred to collectively as "Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo," they offer visitors a unique contrast within close proximity (approximately 6 km / 4 miles apart).

The region is a hub for various water activities. Try snorkeling or scuba diving to discover vibrant marine life, particularly around Ixtapa Island or Las Gatas. Other popular options include parasailing over the bay, jet skiing, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding. Sport fishing is also a major draw, with opportunities for deep-sea charters.

Rent a bicycle and explore the Ciclopista Ixtapa, a dedicated bike path that winds through lush tropical vegetation, including an ecological reserve. This offers a chance to observe local flora and fauna, such as iguanas, various bird species, and even crocodiles in designated areas.
Tip: The path is mostly flat and suitable for all skill levels. Go in the morning to avoid the heat.
