Incheon is a dynamic coastal city where ultramodern design, rich Korean culture, and seaside charm come together just outside Seoul.

Overview
Known for its impressive port and international airport, Incheon is far more than just a gateway. Its waterfront districts are lined with sleek skyscrapers, parks, and boardwalks, especially in Songdo—an eco-friendly “smart city” built with futuristic urban planning in mind. But just beyond the modern skyline, you’ll find traditional markets, temples, and neighborhoods filled with character.
You can explore historic sites like Jayu Park and the port area that played a key role in Korea’s opening to the world. Island hopping to places like Muuido and Yeongjongdo offers a peaceful escape with sandy beaches, forest trails, and fresh seafood.
With its mix of innovation, history, and ocean views, Incheon is a perfect introduction to South Korea’s coastal side—both laid-back and full of surprises.

Begin your journey at Incheon Chinatown, Korea’s largest and oldest Chinese enclave. Brimming with colorful gates, street food stalls, and Chinese-Korean cultural fusion, it’s a great place to walk, eat, and take photos.
Tip: Try local treats like jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and hotteok (sweet pancakes).

Just a short walk from Chinatown, this whimsical neighborhood features murals and sculptures inspired by global fairy tales. It’s a fun and photo-worthy stop for both kids and adults.
Tip: Arrive early to avoid crowds and enjoy uninterrupted photo opportunities.

Step back in time at the Open Port Area, a historic district showcasing Incheon’s role as Korea’s international gateway in the late 19th century. Visit Jayu Park, The Open Port Museum, and restored buildings that reflect Western and Japanese architectural influences.
Tip: Head to Jayu (Freedom) Park’s observatory for sweeping views of Incheon Harbor.

Head over to Songdo International Business District, a modern city built on reclaimed land. Its highlight is Songdo Central Park, a peaceful urban park with canals, sculptures, and walking trails. You can rent a bike or take a water taxi for a leisurely ride.
Tip: Visit the Tri-Bowl, a futuristic cultural center nearby, for photos and exhibitions.

For a local experience, stop by Sinpo Market, a traditional Korean street market known for its fresh seafood and popular street foods. Don’t miss the Sinpo dakgangjeong (crispy sweet and spicy fried chicken), a local favorite.
Tip: Bring cash, as some vendors may not accept cards.

Wrap up your day with a visit to Wolmido, a coastal island area perfect for a relaxing stroll. Enjoy seaside views, visit small amusement rides, or dine at a seafood restaurant overlooking the water.
Tip: Time your visit in the late afternoon for golden-hour photography and sunset views over the Yellow Sea.
