Overview
Icoaraci (pronounced "E-co-a-ra-SEE") is a district of Belém, the capital city of Pará state in Brazil. Located on the eastern bank of the Guamá River, just a short distance from downtown Belém, Icoaraci serves as a vital river port and cultural hub. While often considered part of the larger Belém metropolitan area, it maintains a distinct identity, particularly renowned for its vibrant Amazonian indigenous pottery and as the primary ferry terminal for the colossal Marajó Island.
Icoaraci offers a more relaxed, authentic glimpse into Amazonian life compared to the bustling city center.
