K'gari (formerly known as Fraser Island) is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site located off the southeastern coast of Queensland, Australia. It holds the distinction of being the world's largest sand island, stretching over 123 kilometers in length. Due to its unique sandy composition, K'gari is not a port where large cruise ships can dock directly. Access to the island involves taking a ferry, followed by exploration via specialized 4WD vehicles, as the island has no paved roads. Tip: Driving on the beach requires a 4WD vehicle and adherence to tidal conditions. Do not swim in the ocean here due to dangerous currents and marine life.
Experience the iconic Lake McKenzie, a perched lake renowned for its incredibly clear, pure blue water and brilliant white silica sand. It's a perfect spot for swimming and relaxing, as the sand acts as a natural filter.

Float down the crystal-clear waters of Eli Creek, the largest creek on the island's eastern beach. A boardwalk follows the creek inland, offering a refreshing and enjoyable natural lazy river experience.
Tip: It's a popular spot; visit earlier in the day to avoid crowds. The water is surprisingly cool and refreshing.
Keep an eye out for dingoes, K'gari's native wild dogs, which are part of the purest strain remaining in Australia. They can often be seen along the beaches and in more remote areas.
Tip: Do NOT feed or approach dingoes. They are wild animals and can be dangerous. Always observe from a distance and follow all park regulations regarding dingo safety.
Explore the eerie and photogenic remains of the S.S. Maheno shipwreck, a former trans-Tasman liner that ran aground on 75 Mile Beach in 1935. It's a significant landmark and a popular stop for tours.
