Ramsgate is a port town in the Thanet District located in east Kent, England. It’s an old port that had its time of greatest renown back in the 19^th century. However, the small town with around 40,000 people is still an industrial harbor that offers a consistent cross-channel ferry service. The town well preceded the channel and was a fishing and farming hamlet for years prior to the 18^th century when the harbor was finally built. Artist Vincent Van Gogh called Ramsgate home in the late 19^th century when he was in his twenties and before he created some of his most memorable works. The beautiful coastline and relaxing public beaches keep the town’s tourism market afloat. An exciting regatta takes place every summer which includes many locals, as well as teams from neighboring towns. There is an annual parade and carnival in the summer, both of which attract even more tourists.

• Ramsgate’s main sands are an endless stretch of beach good for walking, wading or even walking animals. The seaside view and serenity are welcoming to the weary traveler.
   
• The unique Micro Museum contains Kent’s collection of vintage computer and video games. The owner amassed this collection for over forty years.
   
• The Viking Ship called Hugin is a replica of an ancient longship that has been sitting in Pegwell Bay for over fifty years.
   
• The Grange is the former family home of Augustus Pugin, one of England’s most influential architects and designers. The inside, as suspected, has an impressive structure, various carvings and stunning stain-glass windows.
