Kuantan, a quaint city that looks out onto the South China Sea, is the state capital of Pahang. This moderately-sized area boasts a picturesque state mosque with beautiful stained glass windows, and tourists come from all over to behold the breathtaking place of worship. The beaches are also quite popular and are well-equipped for water sports such as windsurfing and snorkeling. The nice, calm beaches are also a great location to lay down towels to relax upon or enjoy peaceful swimming and diving. The town’s natural waterfalls are all impressive sights to see, in particular, the Sungai Pandan—the area’s best known and arguably most beautiful waterfall. While tourism is Kuantan’s primary economic activity, logging/timber, ice cream, and fishing are also very important to the human ecosystem. One of the largest theme/waterparks is located here, and spans over 500 acres. Shopping centers and local cuisine restaurants are in abundance and spaced strategically to entice many travelers.

• Take in the town’s natural wonders with Rainbow Waterfall. One of the many beautiful falls, this one allows visitors to get up close and personal so long as you don’t mind a good walk.
   
• Travel into the depths of Malaysia at the Sungai Lembing Mines. Learn the mine’s history during the train ride in, and then gaze at the majesty of the epic hollowed-out caves.
   
• Bring the whole family, or come alone to unwind at Teluk Chempeak. This tranquil beach allows you to bring outside food while offering a stunning view and cool breeze.
   
• For great hiking or jogging excursions, the Bukit Pelindung Recreation Forest is an expansive woodland area with numerous paths and trails protected from direct sunlight.
