Grevenmacher, Luxembourg Cruise Port

If you want a river cruise that gives you the best of two countries, then a leisurely float down the Moselle River may include the port of Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, which straddles a border with Germany. This is a trip custom-made for wine lovers as well, as Grevenmacher is in grape and wine producing region of the Moselle and one of the country’s biggest producers of sparkling wines. It's also one of the largest towns along the river, founded in the 7th century. One of the best winery tours in the area is courtesy of Caves Bernard-Massard. Founded in 1921, the tour won't take too much out of your day but it's very comprehensive nonetheless, and it's done in multiple languages. Enjoy learning about the winemaking process, both past and present, and enjoy a tasting of their fine product afterward.
Take a multilingual historic tour of the downtown area and learn what makes Grevenmacher tick. You'll begin near the quaint church, then take an easy walk while you hear entertaining anecdotes about its past (such as why a pig once destroyed the town).
Fans of art will want to see the Fontaine des Messagers (Messengers' Fountain), sculpted based on a painting by Jean-Pierre Beckius. Depicting two travelers walking from Canaan with a large bunch of grapes between them, it's a pleasant place to sit and watch the people go by.
Hiking is a great activity for the outdoorsy types, thanks to the proximity to the vineyards and a path along the Moselle. Follow the marked trail to the Kelsbaach Valley (which is protected), then head back for day well-spent among the beautiful Luxembourg flora and fauna.
