Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine Cruise Port

Dnipro (known as Dnipropetrovsk until May 2016) acts as the administrative center for the greater Dnipropetrovsk Oblast that has a prominent port on the Dnieper River in south-central Ukraine. With more than one million residents, it’s one of the largest cities in the country and is a municipality deemed a city of oblast significance. While known as an important industrial center, Dnipro is a beautiful and lush area featuring spacious parks, historic streets and buildings, and marvelous scenery. The city is also artistically modern with numerous theaters, including an Opera, and a variety of specialized and thought-provoking museums. During the Soviet era, many of the city streets were renamed after Marxist heroes, including Karl Marx Prospekt, the city’s central thoroughfare that stretches east and west through Zhovtneva Square. There are several public beaches along the river that offer tourists sand, sun, and swimming while the many parks offer walking trails and grand views of the surrounding hillsides.

• Dnipro is home to the world’s largest Jewish complex known as the Menorah Centre. This building has a unique architectural design and houses a project that documents the past, present, and future of Jewish life in the city.
   
• Cut deep within, yet separated from the city at large, the Taras Shevchenko Park is a peaceful space consisting of pure nature, an amusement park for kids, and a waterfall.
   
• The Dnipropetrovsk National History Museum tells the history of Ukraine and its relationship to Russia through an interactive experience with exhibits and artifacts.
   
• The Battle for Dnieper Diorama is a rare war museum that has a number of exhibits exploring the county’s many wars and conflicts, including their conflict with Russia.
