Located in the southeastern Brazil state of Santa Catarina, Camboriú is one of the country’s major beach resorts. Its stunning topography, which includes steep hills that drift down into the sea, makes this city a particular hot spot for tourists. The rush of travelers—particularly during cruise season—has earned them the moniker the Brazilian Dubai. Because of the population doubling to over one million people during tourist season, the economy thrives on real estate and tourism. Pirate-themed boats to and from nearby Laranjieras Beach take a scenic trip around Camboriú Island before returning to the bustling city. One of the city’s unique features is a cable car that links Laranjieras with the central city beach. There are a number of tourist complexes throughout the city that offer sites such as restaurants, shopping centers and activity stations for children. Other attractions include, museums, zoos and beautiful churches, but the primary draw remains the marvelous beaches.

• Among the skyline, gaze at the fantastic Cristo Luz monument. Similar to Rio’s Christ the Redeemer, this statue portrays Jesus with a hat-like circle on his shoulder that represents the sun.
   
• While perusing the vibrant city, take a stroll down Passeio San Miguel for some of the classiest shops and bistros in the region.
   
• If you decide to venture to Unipraias Park, the most popular tourist site in the city, be sure to ride the amazing cable car that connects three stations from the city, to the beach, and up one of the steepest hills.
   
• Located near the center of the city, the aptly named Central Beach consists of a long, wide, extravagant beachside great for jogging, swimming or simply relaxing.
