Bonne Bay, Newfoundland Cruise Port

Bonne Bay is a bay town with about 7,000 citizens located on the western side of Newfoundland. The massive body of water that gives the township its name separates the Great Northern Peninsula from the rest of the Canadian island and province. Its two sections—Inner Bonne Bay and Outer Bonne Bay—are differentiated by their topography and by what visitors can expect to find there. The inner bay is quaint, calm and consists of wooded coves and relaxing beach landings; the outer bay area acts as the entrance to the mighty fjord that helped carve out Bonne Bay, along with two enormous glaciers, more than 1,000 years ago. Woody Point is the bay’s port town and also the unofficial gateway into one of the area’s premiere features, Gros Morne National Park. Founded in 1973, Gros Morne became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and was recognized as a National Park in 2005.

• Galliott Studios is a small art studio and espresso bar that is a popular hangout spot for locals and tourists alike. There is live music on Saturdays and numerous art activities during the week.
   
• The Tablelands is a picturesque area in Gros Morne National Park that offers guided tours and stunning scenery of wide open spaces, forests and the impressive bay.
   
• Also in Gros Morne Park is the James Callaghan Mountain Trail. This challenging, but not impossible hike will bring adventurous visitors up the side of a harrowing mountain and back again.
   
• The Bonne Bay Marine Station is a world class research and teaching facility. Tours of the aquariums show off the amazing species of marine plants and animals that live in the bay.
