Overview
Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece, nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. In ancient times, it was considered the "navel of the world" and was home to the renowned Oracle of Apollo, a significant spiritual and religious center. Today, Delphi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its well-preserved ruins, profound historical significance, and breathtaking mountainous scenery.
Delphi is not a cruise port itself, as it is located inland. However, it is a highly popular and frequently offered shore excursion destination for cruise passengers whose itineraries include ports in mainland Greece, most commonly Piraeus (for Athens) or Nafplion, and sometimes from the port of Itea, which is the closest coastal town to Delphi. Continue uphill past the theater to the Ancient Stadium, where the Pythian Games (second in importance only to the Olympic Games) were held every four years.

Descend to the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, located slightly below the main site. The iconic circular Tholos, with its three standing Doric columns, is one of the most photographed and recognizable structures at Delphi.

Beyond the ruins, take time to appreciate the stunning natural beauty of Delphi's location. The site is dramatically set on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, offering panoramic views of the olive groves in the Pleistos Valley and the distant Gulf of Corinth.
