Just a short drive from Alpine, the Bridger-Teton National Forest offers thousands of acres for hiking and wildlife spotting. Trails range from easy riverside walks to more strenuous mountain climbs, with opportunities to see elk, deer, moose, and a variety of birds.

From December to April, the Alpine Feed Ground, operated by the Wyoming Game & Fish, draws nearly a thousand elk to the edge of town. This offers a unique opportunity to view these magnificent animals up close in their winter habitat.
Tip: This is a seasonal attraction, so check to see if it's operational during your visit. The sight of so many elk in one place is truly impressive.
