AmaWaterways Youth Programs
AmaWaterways recognizes that travel can be one of life's most rewarding experiences, especially when shared with children and loved ones across multiple generations. That being said, you should be aware of the line's age restrictions—which vary based on the itinerary—along with a few important notes regarding the onboard experience and the absence of child-specific programming.
Age Restrictions
For Europe and Southeast Asia itineraries, AmaWaterways is unable to accommodate children younger than 4 years old, and they advise against cruising with children ages 4-7 years old. Children ages 4-10 (at the time of embarkation) are permitted to share a stateroom with 2 adults. However, no additional bed will be provided, so the child must share the bed with the adults. Any guests younger than 18 years old must share a stateroom with an adult, and require adult supervision at all times. For Africa itineraries, children must be at least 12 years old, due to safety precautions, unless otherwise permitted by AmaWaterways.
Family-friendly Accommodations
Thinking about traveling with a family or small group? Select AmaWaterways river ships offer connecting cabins and triple occupancy staterooms (with fold out sofas), featuring the same luxurious amenities and astounding twin-balconies found in other accommodations.
Youth Programming
AmaWaterways does not offer youth facilities, programming or child-specific activities (with the exception of select Christmas Markets cruises; see below). The line's cultural enrichment and destination-centered experience can be as rewarding to children as it is for adults, but it is important for guests to consider whether this is the right onboard experience and atmosphere for their children.
Shoes for St. Nick
On a special night of each Christmas Market cruise, children on board are encouraged to put their provided slippers in the hall outside their rooms. As is tradition throughout Europe, the elves—AmaWaterways elves—will fill the slippers with Christmas treats!
