Acapulco, Mexico Cruise Port

Acapulco is Mexico’s largest resort city and really came to prominence in the 1950s when Hollywood’s young stars would vacation here. Elizabeth Taylor, Bridgette Bardot and Frank Sinatra were fans. With these caliber guests, more and more people flocked and Acapulco grew. Though the days of Old Hollywood glamour have passed, you can still find beautiful resorts and pristine beaches. The city is also known for its cliff divers who plummet into the ocean each day, putting on quite a show. Featured below are a few of our favorite sights and sounds for Acapulco, Mexico:

  • Learn about the significance of Acapulco as a trading port for Mexico at the Museo Historico de Acapulco at Fuerte de San Diego. Here you’ll learn about the earliest residents, historical pirate attacks and more.

  • Get down with your bad self at Disco Beach, a popular nightlife spot where you can dance the night away.

  • You can’t visit Acapulco without watching the La Quebrada Cliff Divers. They dive four times a day and you can watch from a viewing platform or while dining at La Perla.

  • To meet the locals, head to Zocalo, the town square. Here you can watch the locals, shop, eat an authentically Mexican meal and enjoy the entertainment at night.
