Here, colorful plants, trees and flowers create a dazzling contrast to the lush green forest backdrop. Meet your personal tour guide and board a covered shuttle for an intimate look at this natural wonderland. You will be amazed at the diversity of the rainforest as you wind your way along pathways carved from the mountainside toward the upper regions of the forest. Your guide describes points of interest and explains the surrounding environment.

    At the 580-foot level, a yellow cedar boardwalk leads to a breathtaking, panoramic view of the Mendenhall Valley, Douglas Island, Gastineau Channel and the Chilkat Mountains. Words cannot adequately describe the view, so be sure to bring your camera.

    Your descent follows a different route to view ponds, waterfalls and the colorful flower arrangements adorning the main pavilion at the garden's entrance. Enter the visitor center atrium and browse through the gift area or purchase refreshments. Relax amidst beautiful hanging baskets or enjoy a nearby stream before returning to the cruise ship pier.
