Alghero, Italy Cruise Port
Alghero, Italy is found to the west of the Italian mainland, separated from the tip of neighboring Corsica by the narrow Strait of Bonifacio. Alghero is a region divided into four provinces; Cagliari, Nuoro, Oristano and Sassari. The town’s Spanish heritage is reflected in the architecture of many of its buildings, for example, the Church of San Francesco, and the towers remaining from Spanish fortifications. In the Old Town, cobbled streets still have the names in both Italian and Catalan. Alghero’s restaurants are famous for seafood, such as lobster, caught in the nearby waters.
