Holidays. The word alone invokes a cornucopia of thoughts ranging from time with family, to time with friends to time with a mixture of the two. In every case though, holidays, whether religious or national, are a time to gather with friends and family to celebrate, remember, appreciate, give and share.
Here at The Cruise Web, we celebrate the winter holidays together at our annual Holiday Party. Below is a great shot from last year's Holiday Party where we gathered at the BlackFinn Restaurant in Bethesda, MD to celebrate the season as a company and as friends.

Holiday Cruising
For me the Holidays have always been about family - and in my world the word "family" takes on a very broad context. My family is not only comprised of children, siblings, parents, and their extensions, but also includes halfs, steps, exes, and in-laws plus friends and loved ones who are not blood related, but who are definitely family.
With this type of broad and growing family, my Holidays are rarely spent in the same place twice. However, they are always spent together - even if it means sometimes being in two places at once (or so it can sometimes feel)!
One of my favorite aspects of cruising is that it is one of the best ways I know for a diverse group to spend quality time together, while still allowing everyone his/her own special escape, distraction, interest, and fun!
This year much of my extended family and I will enjoy Thanksgiving week cruising out of Florida. I know my family is going to relish every minute of doing everything and/or nothing, with all of our needs catered to - especially the post Holiday meal dishes!
If you are also looking to escape cooking and/or dish duty this Holiday season, I trust this issue of the Current will inspire you with alternatives!

This month's employee profile focuses on The Cruise Web's Assistant Manager of Client Services, Jaime Froehlich. Jaime came to us from Wilkes Barre, PA. Upon graduation from the University of Pittsburgh with her English Literature degree, Jaime got a job for a major travel website, before relocating to the DC area. When considering jobs in the DC area, Jaime wanted to find a position that combined her desire to work in the travel industry with her people skills. Thus she found a position at The Cruise Web.
Jaime helps manage our Client Service Department with the goal to provide our clients with the best service in the industry. Jaime's favorite part of the job is helping people who are excited about their cruise vacations. In her 5 years here at The Cruise Web, she's helped thousands of clients with their cruise questions and requests.
Since this is our Holiday newsletter, we had to ask Jaime about her favorite holiday. "I love Thanksgiving because of food and family (in that order)" quips Jaime. "My favorite Thanksgiving meal is my dad's 26 lb. turkey with his special stuffing."
Currently Jaime is looking forward to taking her honeymoon with her newly betrothed. She and her husband of one month will be spending their honeymoon backpacking through Western Europe. I guess someone forgot to tell her that we sell cruises...

The Current Spotlight: Enjoying Thanksgiving at Sea
by Sherry J., Cruise Consultant
|
In 2006 I earned a free cruise by successfully graduating from Cunard's Commodore travel agent program. Not having sailed Cunard before I was eager to find a complimentary cruise and set sail aboard "The Most Famous Ocean Liners in the world."
When the announcement came out about the complimentary cruises, I jumped at the first sailing I could find, which turned out to be a Caribbean sailing aboard the Queen Mary 2.

My First Christmas Cruise
by The Cruise Web, Inc.
Never in a million years would I ever think of spending the December holidays any place other than at home...until last December when my family spent Christmas on the Ruby Princess.
When I first made the reservations I had second thoughts. I wondered how other family members would react without us there, at home. Would my two teenagers miss spending Christmas morning in their Bethesda, MD home? Would it really "feel" like Christmas being so far away from home?
