One of the many reasons people cruise is because of the amazing service. While onboard, you will receive plenty of personal attention from your room steward who is there to make sure you have a comfortable and clean stateroom. You will be treated to meals where you don't have to lift a finger if you don't want to. Just as you would tip your server when going out to dinner at home, gratuities are a part of the cruising experience.
Norwegian, in its effort to streamline everything for the passenger, has added a service charge to every guest who is three years or older. This service charge is added at the end of the cruise, but can be paid at any time up to 24 hours prior to sailing. This charges is $12 per person per day. This charge covers all of Norwegian's staff members, even the crew that work behind the scenes supporting those you see everyday.
Many of the crew consistently go above and beyond to make sure you have an enjoyable and care-free cruise experience, and guests may still reward the great service they see with a personal cash tip, but nothing additional is required.
For any questions regarding the gratuity policy, please ask your cruise consultant. We can explain any extra fees associated with your cruise.
