Photo Highlight
This month's Cruise Web Current highlights the popular Contemporary cruise line type. Our contemporary cruising photo highlight comes courtesy of Royal Caribbean. You have to admire this rock climber's dedication as she focuses on her goal and ignores the beautiful tropical backdrop.

Contemporary Cruising!
Contemporary cruising is something that many people have heard of, but relatively few people know much about it. In this newsletter, we will explore what you can expect from a contemporary cruise line, and how these features will keep your family happy on your next vacation.
Comprised of the largest and most well-known cruise lines, the contemporary cruising experience is truly world class. Offering the widest range of onboard choices and most popular cruise destinations, today's contemporary ships allow travelers of every taste to find exactly what they want.
Boasting the biggest and most modern ships in the industry, contemporary lines allow cruisers to entertain the whole family with age specific activities and areas on the ship, or isolate themselves in adult-only pools and lounges. These ships are the perfect place to enjoy the familiar, try something new, get a little gourmet or just unwind in that wonderful cruising way.
Read on to learn more about the fantastic variety offered by today's contemporary cruise lines. For example, in my "Family Cruising" blog you will learn about my personal experience onboard Royal Caribbean and see why I'm such a huge fan of contemporary cruising.

This month's Employee Profile is responsible for bringing The Cruise Web's fun personality to life via social media. Meet Erica Kritt, Social Media Coordinator for The Cruise Web, chief blogger and the brains behind our efforts on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest and Instagram.
After graduating with a degree in Journalism from Towson University, Erica pursued her passion for writing by landing a job at a local newspaper where she spent five years as a reporter. "I learned a lot as a reporter. I developed a sense of story, and enjoyed talking to and getting to know people. It's really just general curiosity - people are fascinating to me." From there Erica attended Boston University to earn her graduate degree in Media Ventures, which delved into digital and social media. After spending a semester in Boston, and another in Los Angeles, she returned home to find a job that could combine her love of travel with her background in journalism and social media. Enter The Cruise Web! Erica explains, "Social media and cruising go hand in hand. Cruise lines use it to promote specials and communicate with their guests, and consumers use it as a tool to share stories and pictures with their friends and families. When we do something interesting, we want everyone to know about it."
Erica has also experienced the benefits of contemporary cruising three times. "My favorite part about contemporary cruising is the amount of options onboard. I took a multi-generational cruise with my family and it was great. My grandmother enjoyed the big band music and symphonies, my cousins had fun at the art auctions and my dad and I bonded over daily trivia games." Another perk of contemporary cruising is the ability to meet people from all walks of life. "While on a three-night cruise, I had dinner with a trucker couple one night, the ship's doctor the next, and then with an older couple who had taken a ton of cruises."

Family Cruising
By Karolina Shenton, Marketing and Sales Operations Manager |
Summer is coming and the kids will soon be out of school. It's time to plan that epic vacation for your family; the one you've always dreamed of doing. You're excited as you daydream of all the possibilities. But then something mysterious happens. You start to remember all those impossibly long family road trips and hotel stays when you were a kid. If you have a sibling, you recall hours of back seat bickering with your brother or sister...
