Vacation and shopping tend to go hand-in-hand for many people. Luckily for those people cruising and shopping are also closely intertwined. From tax-free shopping at onboard shops to price-haggling with vendors around the globe, shopping can make your cruise that much more fun! Even if shopping isn't your thing, you'll find it tough to resist as you peruse the shops (and great deals) both onboard and ashore!

President's Message Celebrating 15 Years in Business
Shopping on Your Cruise Vacation
Whether it was my new watch, my ex-wife's sparkling necklace, my mother's elegant ring, or one of many other purchases, we all swear by the great values! The selection, quality, and prices of shopping in major cruise ports always seem to be spectacular.
Maybe it's because those shops are so specialized and they do so much volume, that they can offer such values. Or maybe, shopping is just more fun and rewarding when you are on vacation and taking extra time to celebrate your loved ones.
Whatever the reason, I have always found that it is wise to leave extra room in your luggage to fit your indulgences for the trip home...Of course, if you need new luggage, you can solve two problems at the same time!

Dana Koller
Senior Cruise Consultant
Hobbies: Running, Traveling, Cooking and Shopping
Favorite Itinerary: The Mediterranean
Favorite Places to Shop: Florence, Venice
and New York City
Pets: A new fish, named "Swish the Fish" after Nick Swisher (Dana's boyfriend is a die-hard Yankee fan)
This month's employee profile is Dana Koller, Senior Cruise Consultant. Dana has been with the Cruise Web for four years. In that time Dana has been on over 15 ships and visited 12 countries. One of Dana's favorite aspects of cruising is the opportunity to shop all over the world and find local treasures.
In Venice, it was the oversized, glass rings. In Florence, it was the leather handbags from the leather market. In Cannes, there were French soaps and hand woven baskets. And of course, "you can find anything in New York," Dana explained.
Dana's shopping adventures continue this weekend, as Dana will be attending the inaugural on Royal Caribbean's newest ship Oasis of the Seas, followed by a cruise to the Bahamas. "I'm looking forward to seeing Rihanna perform on the Oasis and visiting all of the onboard boutiques, especially the largest Coach store at sea."
The Current Spotlight: Shopping Treasures
Collected from the experiences of The Cruise Web employees
There is something exciting about shopping while traveling. It is the physical act of being able to take a piece of the places you have visited with you. This, of course, is a popular activity while cruising because your purchases turn into a physical map of the many ports and countries that you have visited along the way.

My Favorite Places to Shop
When I Cruise
by Jen C., Sr. Cruise Consultant
Two of my favorite places to shop when I cruise are the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera. In addition to the warm sun and sandy beaches, I love the great shopping opportunities that are in each destination. So, what is there to buy in the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera? It all depends on where your cruise takes you.
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles
These two Eastern Caribbean destinations are a Mecca for jewelry shopping.
