Manager's Insight
South America!
When most people think of cruising they usually think of the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, but cruises sail all over the world - from glaciers in Antarctica to deserts in Dubai. That is why I'm so glad that we can feature South America in this month's issue of The Current.
South America has seen a steady increase in tourism. According to the World Tourism Organization, for two years in a row South America had a 10% increase in visitors, which is a greater increase than anywhere else in the world.
I'm not surprised by this statistic. I recently got a chance to visit the continent and there are so many things to see and do. Most cruise lines offer a wide selection of sailings in South America. There are itineraries that take you around Cape Horn with the opportunity to visit Antarctica. Other itineraries offer the chance to celebrate Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
To me, the allure of South America is the chance to be a discoverer. There is something to be said for the person who does something first. You can be the first in your family or among your friends to visit. So what if Columbus or Pizarro got there before you? I'm sure neither of them had as great a time as you will.
I encourage you to think of the places you'd like to discover on your next cruise as you read about the wonders of South America in this month's newsletter.

For this month's employee profile, we've decided to keep it in the family. Molly Keane has only been with The Cruise Web for a little more than a year, but she's made quite an impression on us and her clients - just ask her sister, Merry, who also works at The Cruise Web. For those of us bold enough to wonder what it would be like to work with a family member, Molly explains, "It's great. We are best friends. We have a four and half year age difference, which was huge when we were kids, but now it's not a problem. She's been a big part of my success here."
Prior to her sister persuading Molly to join The Cruise Web, Molly earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Towson University. Soon after, Molly found herself at The Cruise Web in a role that fit her perfectly. "It's exciting to help people book dream vacations. My favorite part of working for The Cruise Web is being able to build strong relationships with clients."
In her young career here at The Cruise Web, Molly has sent hundreds of clients on their dream vacations. So, what is her dream vacation? "I'd love to cruise the British Isles. It's so beautiful over there, but it's hard to get around. Cruising would be perfect because we'd only have to unpack once." Molly adds, "I've actually been to Scotland, Ireland and Holland before. I'm Irish, so it was great to see where my grandparents were from." And maybe she'll even bring her sister along for the ride.

Exploring the Past in Peru
By Arthur Balin, Senior Cruise Consultant
Peru is a beautiful country with a little bit of everything - rainforests, deserts, mountains and lakes. The beautiful landscape I found there on my trip in 2010 served as a wonderful backdrop to the history of this incredible nation that was once the center of the Incan Empire.
I was prompted to visit after more and more of my clients started asking about visiting South America, particularly Machu Picchu. This region has seen steady growth in popularity among travelers and more and more cruises are heading there...
