The Best Cruises We Took in 2012

Wailing Wall in Jerusalem

A compilation by The Cruise Web employees.
Wailing Wall in Jerusalem2012 was filled with lots of changes in the world and the cruise industry. We saw the debuts of the Celebrity Reflection, Oceania Riviera and the Carnival Breeze, and the river cruise market continued to grow. Here at The Cruise Web, we had the opportunity to sail the seven seas this year. Below,  our team members share their best cruises of 2012. Feel free to use this list as a jumping off point when you start to think of where you’ll go in 2013!

My best cruise in 2012 was by far my cruise to the Holy Land on the Crystal Serenity. Spending three days in Israel was an absolute dream come true. Floating in the Dead Sea, praying at the Wailing Wall, climbing to the top of Mount Masada and walking along the same pathways that Jesus did was a true spiritual experience. To top it off, the highlight for me was that I was baptized in the Jordan River. How awesome is that?

In May I took a cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas to Bermuda and the Northeast. This cruise was special because it was my mom’s first time visiting the island and seeing Boston. We enjoyed the trolley experience in Boston, and got to visit Fenway Park and Boston Garden, the old stomping ground of the great Larry Bird.  I would definitely recommend this excursion for Boston newbies. In Bermuda, we went to Horseshoe Bay to check out the famous pink sand. My mom enjoyed the trip and we are planning on going back there soon, this time to check out the other beaches on the island.

This summer I got to experience my first luxury cruise on Regent Seven Seas to the Baltics. This trip was awesome because my parents who are not cruisers had a great time. It was a great mode of transportation around the Baltic capitals while providing amazing service and cuisine. Plus, we met so many friendly, interesting people onboard.

Early this fall I went on a completely relaxing and wonderful epicurean adventure while cruising along the Pacific Coast. It was Celebrity’s “Excite the Senses” cruise aboard the Millennium. This cruise featured unbelievable food, culinary classes and lectures, as well as amazing wine and tours to the California wine country. We booked into the AquaClass accommodations, which afforded unlimited access to the ship’s Persian Garden and relaxation room, which were simply divine. As AquaClass passengers, we enjoyed the exclusive restaurant onboard, Blu, which featured beautifully crafted foods with a healthier touch.

In November, I got the opportunity to sail along the Rhine River on a Uniworld cruise from Basel to Amsterdam. Along the way we were guided through each town by our cruise director, who really gave us a sense for the culture, history and people at each stop along the way. The river cruise allowed us to visit ports that aren’t overrun by tourists, giving us an authentic experience in this region of the world. We dined in the restaurants the locals favored and shopped in the stores they frequent. It was a lovely experience.

There you go, now check back on our facebook page to see where we’re headed in 2013. What was your best cruise in 2012?
