Memorial Day Weekend is always a favorite holiday as it marks the start of summer and gives many a long weekend away from work. However, this past Memorial Day Weekend was even more special for Lauren Kaplan, The Cruise Web’s Benefits Coordinator & Administrative Assistant. On Saturday, May 28, 2011 she was married to her fiance Ben Kaplan. They had a destination wedding in Pembroke Pines, Florida (just outside of Fort Lauderdale). With Lauren working in the cruise industry and having a wedding near a large cruise port, it only made sense for her to embark on a Caribbean cruise for her honeymoon. At the end of May, a few lucky Cruise Web employees received an opportunity to hang out with Ray Lewis, linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, during the “Ray’s Summer Days” fundraiser hosted by The Ray Lewis Foundation. Our invitations, which came by way of Kathy Donnelly, District Sales Manager for Carnival Cruise Lines, included passes to both the Celebrity Bowling Tournament and Celebrity Paintball Tournament and BBQ.

The Cruise Web’s founder and President, Frans Hansen, joined the stars at the world premiere of Arthur at New York City’s famous Ziegfeld Theater last month. This Warner Brothers’ picture, directed by Modern Family’s Jason Winer, is a remake of the classic 80s comedy Arthur, starring the late Dudley Moore.

What happens when you can’t find a friend or family member to share a stateroom with you on your cruise vacation? Consider taking the cruise by yourself.
This past December, I was in this exact situation. I held a reservation on a 12-night Caribbean cruise on Azamara Club Cruises, Azamara Journey, and found myself without anyone to travel with me. I needed a vacation, so instead of canceling my trip, I decided to go on the cruise by myself. Having never cruised alone before, I had some concerns that I know many cruisers have when it comes to sailing by yourself. Who will I eat dinner with? Will I have fun? Is it safe to explore the ports of call by myself? -
Saturday April 2nd, The Cruise Web Management team traveled to Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia to test their karting skills on the region’s best racetrack. The idea came to Frans shortly after he won NASA (National Auto Sport Association) National Championship.

On Friday, March 11th The Cruise Web celebrated its first ever “Sticky Finger Friday.” Rather than going on a “sticky finger” burglary spree, however, we got sticky digging into cinnamon buns and other breakfast treats. And how exactly did “Sticky Finger Friday” get started? Like everything great that happens at The Cruise Web, it was a team effort. First came the idea to get cinnamon buns on a Friday because, well, we wanted them – eating cinnamon buns should never have to be justified.
