Princess Cruises announced today the newest edition to their Alaska cruisetour program – a treehouse!
Built from the partnership between Princess Cruises and Discovery Communications, the treehouse offers guests an unparalleled view of North America’s highest peak – Mt. Denali. Look out amongst the lush trees and snowcapped mountains to have the authentic Alaska experience that keeps travelers coming back for more.
Guests can reach the treehouse, located at the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, by hiking the short hill trail loop. It is the first-ever designed and constructed treehouse in Alaska, and is one of the highest land-based north-facing viewing areas – which will give guests an unblemished, incredible view of the south face of Mt. Denali. Be sure to bring your camera!
“At destinations around the globe, we strive to create a bond between our guests and the places we visit, and now more than ever people are visiting Alaska to experience the beauty and adventure the state has to offer,” said Lisa Syme, Princess Cruises vice president. “As the #1 cruise line in Alaska, we are eager to bring these fresh and engaging experiences to our Alaska cruisetour guests, providing opportunities for more travelers to connect with the people, nature, storied traditions and history of the Great Land in 2018.”
Princess Cruises will also be offering additional activities in the treehouse for guests:
Tales from the Sourdough Expedition
This expedition will be hosted by author, world record holder, and amputee mountain climber – Todd Huston. You will meet with Huston and other participants before beginning your own trek to the new treehouse. Along the way, enjoy entertaining stories of the first successful ascent of Denali as you explore area trails. End your adventure with a cup of hot chocolate and doughnuts at the treehouse summit. The 45-minute expedition will run five days a week for an additional charge.
Sappy Hour
Calling all foodies! This is your opportunity to try samplings of birch syrups and other tree-inspired products. Learn about birch trees and how syrup is harvested. Sappy Hour will run daily at the treehouse for an additional charge.
Trivia at the Treehouse
Test your Alaska knowledge with an afternoon of trivia fun! The game will be hosted by the lodge’s resident naturalist, and you’ll have a blast trying to say the correct answer while being surrounded by spectacular views of Mt. Denali. Trivia will take place daily and is complimentary for lodge guests.
Cruisetours are land-based additions to a cruise – offered by the cruise line. They allow guests to extend their vacations as well as explore places a ship can’t visit. For more information about cruisetours, please click here.
