Norwegian Joy will join her sister ship, Norwegian Bliss, for Alaska sailings beginning in April 2019. She will spend her first summer season sailing 7-day voyages to Alaska from Seattle and then will begin sailing Mexican Riviera and Panama Canal voyages from Los Angeles for winter 2019/2020.
Before Norwegian Joy makes her big move to Seattle, she will undergo an estimated $50 million upgrade to enhance already popular features as well as update her designs and amenities to be nearly identical to Norwegian Bliss.
“Norwegian Cruise Line expanded the Alaska cruise experience as the first line to sail to the state from Seattle over 24 years ago,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line. “I am extremely excited to further strengthen our presence in the region with the addition of Norwegian Joy, sister ship to Norwegian Bliss, the most successful ship in our 51 year history. With $50 million in enhancements including the addition of a Starbucks® store and enhanced restaurant, bar and entertainment options, Norwegian Joy will be a welcome addition for guests looking to cruise on a world-class ship in one of the world’s most sought after destinations.”
Norwegian Joy will be sailing itineraries designed to bring travelers into the wild beauty of Alaska and complement Norwegian Bliss’s itineraries. She will visit stunning ports in Alaska like Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, Holkham Bay, and Icy Strait Point as well as Victoria, British Columbia.
Highlights of Norwegian Joy include the heart-pumping Race Track, the immersive virtual reality experience of the Galaxy Pavilion, the intergalactic Laser Battle, the rejuvenating Mandara Spa & Salon, and the numerous bars and lounges onboard for that well-earned drink at the end of the day.
In addition to Norwegian Joy beginning sailings to Alaska, Norwegian Pearl will begin sailing in Europe in summer 2019, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Jewel will deploy to Australia and Asia in winter 2019/2020, and Norwegian Spirit will begin seasonal cruises in China in summer 2020.
The new itineraries for Norwegian Joy will be available to book on July 24, 2018. For more information about those sailings, and all other sailings with Norwegian Cruise Line – call us today at 1-800-377-9383 to speak with an expert cruise consultant.
