Norwegian Cruise Line recently announced its intention to add two new ships to the fleet, which will be the fifth and sixth ships in the new Leonardo-Class. The first ship of the new class is scheduled to debut in 2022 and the recently announced ships are scheduled to debut in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
“Our six-ship Leonardo Class fleet will allow us to broaden our deployment into strong performing and mature unserved and underserved markets and offer new experiences to our guests,” said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
The Leonardo-Class ships will be able to welcome approximately 3,300 guests, which will make them smaller than the recent Breakaway and Breakaway Plus classes but larger than the Jewel-Class ships. The Leonardo-Class ships will also focus on energy efficiency – mainly optimizing fuel consumption and reducing the impact on the environment. The ships having a smaller carbon footprint will also allow them to visit more destinations throughout the world.
“Following the Breakaway Plus Class, the most successful class in our Company’s history, the highly anticipated Leonardo Class will fuel future growth with exciting and innovative offerings that will meaningfully drive demand from new and loyal returning guests alike,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line.
We will be posting updates about the new Leonardo-Class ships as information is made available. For more information about all sailings with Norwegian Cruise Line, please visit our website or call us at 1-800-377-9383 to speak with an expert cruise consultant.
