Carnival-Sunshine-WaterWorksWith 49 days and $155 million, the Carnival Destiny will transform into the Carnival Sunshine in the spring of 2013. This ship will be ready to set sail from its homeport of New Orleans in Louisiana as one of Carnival’s Fun Ships in April 2013.
As part of Carnival’s initiative to bring fun to the seas, the cruise company has set aside $500 million to add certain features like Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, RedFrog Rum Bar, EA Sports Bar, and Hasbro, The Game Show to this ship and a few others. But the Carnival Sunshine will also have a few more features unique to her.
The ship’s unique features will include:

  • WaterWorks – An amazing water park where cruisers will be able to slide down 5 different slides, including two that are side-by-side and allow you to race against your fellow cruisers. Your time will even be posted on a huge screen for everyone to see. There will also be a total of 40 different water features in the park.
  • New Restaurants – From an Asian inspired full-service dining option to a bunch of snack options, this ship will have some type of food to make your mouth water and keep you coming back for more. Check out the Havana Bar, which will offer up Cuban finger foods, Cuban cocktails and late night dancing. If you are looking for a fan favorite, try Pizzeria del Capitano, where hand crafted pizza is available 24/7.  Looking for a pastry or a fancy latte? Check out JavaBlue for coffee and coffee-house fare like cupcakes and cinnamon buns. Last, but certainly not least, is the Shake Spot. That’s right, a place just for shakes. From classic vanilla and chocolate to tropical adult shakes with Grand Marnier and Cointreau.
  • Carnival-Sunshine-SerenitySerenity – Carnival’s  largest adults only retreat. It will take up three decks with a waterfall feature and an area for outdoor dining.
  • “Dive In” Movies – A poolside 270-square foot LED screen where every night there will be “Dive In” movies shown under the stars.

Have you sailed on the Destiny before and would you want to sail on the Sunshine in the future?
